May 14, 2016 - Meeting Summary


The San Diego S Gaugers held the May club meeting at our clubhouse (304 on the mall map) in Grossmont Center at 10:00am. Attendees were: Les Smith, Alex Sibbald, Dale Minard, Ken Sadlock, Don Briggs, Wes Noel, Mike Forys and Al Keil.


Show and Tell:

Ken Sadlock displayed twine purchased at Michaels that he used to repair a brown hoist crane. Ken also brought in chamois obtained, at a 99 cent store, he used to repair an AF Diesel. Ken also presented a magnetic working surface that can be used to repair trains. The magnetic surface would be used to catch dropped screws. Mike Forys passed around a trailer train car manufactured by MTH for the MTH S Gauge Club. Les Smith brought in cardboard models of the Coaster and Green Line Trolley that he obtained to be given away to celebrate National Train Day (today). Alex Sibbald brought in a box of American Models Catalogs donated to the group by AM to distribute to interested parties.

Mike Forys showed off the replacement smoke fluid kit from Anormal1. This kit also included track cleaning supplies.

Treasurer’s Report:

Bob Grave’s report stated that we received $284.31 from visitor donations in April.

Standards Report:

Raulf Polichar is working on new switches for Gilbert Town and a separate window button and control box for the ceramic village display.

Publicity Report:

Dale Minard reported that he stocked up on club brochures and other literature, as he will be gone for several months.


Old Business:

SDSG Website:

Bob Graves is working to add new pictures and page counters. Ken Sadlock offered his services to prepare photos for the web site.

PY3.5 (station expansion):

The module is ready for gluing down the track and the station platforms are in the works. (On hold)

T1 replacement frame:

The replacement frame is ready for track. (On hold)

New Gilbert Town Modules:

The three new Gilbert Town modules are ready for laying track.


New Business:

501(C)3 status:

Mike Forys explained the application for 501(C3) status with the state of California has been submitted and we are awaiting the results.

Future Clinics:

It was suggested that the club could hold a clinic on the application of Bullfrog Snot on drive wheels.

Window Layout Success:

As of 05/12/2016 the window layout button has been pushed 2,800 times since our last meeting, 23,859 times since we installed it at Grossmont Center and 58,787 times since day one.

Future events:

The Tuesday meeting on June 18 has been changed to Tuesday June 21th at our Suite (304 on the mall map) in Grossmont Center at 10AM.

Track Issues:

The PY5 turnout problem has been fixed. Wes will lead a committee to list and repair other problems on existing modules.

Clubhouse Issues:

Ken Sadlock has donated a mop and bucket to the club.

Meeting was adjourned at 11:10 AM.
