October 20, 2020 - Meeting Summary
The San Diego S-Gaugers held the September club meeting both at the clubhouse in Grossmont Center and on Zoom at 10:00AM. Attendees were: Mike Forys, Ken Sadlock, Raulf Polichar, Robert Graves, Les Smith, Bill Center, Al Kiel, John Racey, Alex Sibbald, Dale Minard, Scotty Lewis and Gary Crossland.
Introduction of new faces / Show and Tell:
Mike Forys displayed Roland's repaired coaling tower that had fallen apart during its time on the layout. Mike added a base and lighting during the repair process. He also showed us some figures for the winter snow scene purchased from Catzpaws that Ken Sadlock had painted. Ken donated to the club for display an American Flyer typewriter made in 1934. Raulf Polichar described and displayed bright E10 size LEDs that he is using in American Flyer passenger cars. The company name is GutReise and the bulbs are available in warm or cool and various DC voltages.
Treasurer’s Report:
Very little financial activity due to being closed.
Standards Report:
Raulf Polichar explained that he had been testing the new DCC controller. The remote function is still not operating. He also volunteered to fabricate a new coal chute for Roland's coaling tower
Publicity Report:
Les Smith proposed awarding via a drawing, train operation time to select visitors when we return to entertaining visitors again. He believes that such a program may encourage new members.

Website Update:
Bob Graves presented our new email address and explained how he changed the web site to be accessible for modification by persons other than himself. The new email address is: sandsgaugers@gmail.com

SN3 Addition Status:
Raulf and Mike have been repairing track.
Window Layout Success and Visitor Attendance:
As of 10/16/2020 the Window Layout Button 1 has been pushed 895 times and Window Layout Button 2 has been pushed 1006 times for a total of 1,901 times since September 18th. or 170,953 times since we first installed one at Grossmont Center and 211,281 times since day one. The new buttons are performing much better than the previous buttons.
Future events:
The next meetings will be on Tuesdays, November 17th and December 8th and will be held at our clubhouse at Grossmont Center and on Zoom unless shopping center status changes.
Mike Forys passed out a proposed calendar for 2021. It was voted to be accepted but subject to change.
Clubhouse:
The clubhouse is available to members for work, for an operating session or just to run trains. Notify Mike Forys and he will reserve the timeslot for you and he will notify other members via email. We will be rotating items in the front wall display and adding text explaining and/or describing exhibited items.
Work Days:
A work day will be scheduled just before we reopen.
Liberty Loop window layout:
Mike is looking for someone to create a fall scene on an insert for the Liberty Loop Layout. A blank insert is available for decorating.
Opening Clubhouse:.
Two boxes of MTH track are being purchased to offset any future needs since Mike Wolf is retiring and the future of the company is unknown. Mike Forys will purchase rail joiners from American Models to go with the track.
