March 22, 2014 - Meeting Summary

The San Diego S Gaugers held the March club meeting in our clubhouse in Liberty Station. Attendees were: Mike Forys, Bob Graves, Ken Sadlock, Dale Minard, Alex Sibbald, and Wes Noel.

New Faces, Show and Tell:

The club welcomed our latest member, Wes Noel. Wes had American Flyer as a child and currently is installing DCC in his Flyer Engines. He has a layout in his garage and it shares space with the car by use of overhead pulleys. Dale Minard brought in several Winross Trucks to share.

Treasurer’s Report:

Bob Graves reported that we took in $161.07 in clubhouse donations during February. Donations have exceeded expenses again this month and we continue to be solvent.

Standards Report:

All switch motors have been mounted.

Publicity Report:

No report this month.

Old Business:

Lift bridge module:

The track gap is still a work in progress after reinforcement of the two towers. Current plan is to use cross members that are used during transport to reduce tower movement. These cross members will stay in place until the last module is installed and secured.

PY2.5

This module still needs switch control motor and clouds. (on-hold)

Window Layout:

Our activity counter has recorded a total of 1,090 hits in the last month. Now into the 22nd month of counter operation, the counter has recorded 23,284 pushes on the Liberty Loop button. The scenery is currently under construction. The L-Gauge Museum has delivered a spring diorama made of Legos for the centerpiece.

Roundhouse Addition:

This addition has its toggle switches and motors installed and the track work is progressing toward being fully functional.

Twin Lakes Module:

This module is nearly complete with the beaver lodge, pond, trees and tree stumps installed.

Future events:

The next monthly meeting of 2014 will be held on Saturday, Apr 26, 2014, at 2:00pm. Our next Open House will be held on Saturday May 10th, from 11:00am to 4:00pm, which is National Train Day. Dale will design stickers and a flyer for advertising.

The PSR, regional, convention, status, meeting will be attended by Dale and Raulf as SDSG representatives.

Dale will print a complete list of S-Gauge vendors from the NASG website. It will be kept at the club house for reference and to show the public where S Gauge products can be purchased.

Sara Kelly will visit the clubhouse on Wednesday 4/2/2014 about 10:30am to shoot pictures and take statements from members about the club and the layout.

Labor Day Weekend:

Due to a conflict in our scheduling, the club voted not to take the layout to the San Diego Model Railroad Museum this Labor Day Weekend. We have committed to be on the layout tour for the NMRA Convention the week before the Labor Day Weekend. Mike Forys will discuss possible alternative dates with the museum.

Meeting was adjourned at 3:15PM.
