May 17, 2022 - Meeting Summary

The San Diego S-Gaugers held the May club meeting at our clubhouse and on Zoom. Attendees were: Mike Forys, Ken Sadlock, Robert Graves, Dale Minard, Wes Noel, Raulf Polichar, John Racey, Scott Lewis, Don Briggs, Les Smith and Alex Sibbald.

Introduction of new faces / Show and Tell:

Mike Forys displayed a keep out template he made used to prevent drilling into a control box mounted under the Liberty Loop Module. Dale Minard showed the club members several of the structures that he completed recently. They include an auto sales building, a taco shop and a Library.

Treasurer's Report:

This month Bob Graves reported $559.69 from clubhouse visitor donations in April. He also explained that the electric bill we owed this month is lower again.

Standards Report:

Raulf reported that the locomotives he has been preparing for the Timesaver modules to be used at the NMRA convention in September are ready to go.

Publicity Report:

John Racey suggested that the club submit articles about the club achievements to the NASG Dispatch Magazine.

SN3 Addition Status:

Mike Forys has installed several engines on the display to enhance the scenery and it was suggested that we add some cars to go with them.

Window Layout Success and Visitor Attendance:

From 04/16/2022 to 05/14/2022 the Window Layout Button 1 has been pushed 1,471 times and Window Layout Button 2 has been pushed 1,400 times for a total of 2,871 times or 221,539 times since Feb 2016 when we first installed one at Grossmont Center and 261,089 times since day one.

New Business:

Covad-19 Update:

After a brief discussion it was agreed that we will discontinue mandating Covid-19 protocols for the time being. Members are encouraged to wear masks if they want to or if visitors prefer to.

Future events:

The next meetings will be on Tuesdays, June 21, 2022 and July 19th and will be held at our clubhouse and on Zoom.

Gilbert Town Transformer:

It was noticed that the voltmeter on the transformer in Gilbert Town area seems to be running hot when running Flyer Chief remote. It is recommended that we set the voltage at less than full until we find the cause and solution.

Club Mural:

Mike Forys is leading a crew developing a plan for a refer style door for the new club mural.

NMRA/PSR:

Dale Minard attended the NMRA/PSR monthly meeting at the Antique Gas & Steam Engine Museum in Vista and brought back the following upcoming convention news. Swap Meet tables will cost $12 to rent or you can supply your own at no cost. There are convention sign-ups for Zoom Clinics. There is a convention cap at 200 attendees and currently there are 155 signed up. The convention auction will include S scale items. The PSR Division has a You tube channel and it is nmra psr san diego division

Club Layout:

Mike Forys and Raulf Polichar adjusted the module height on C4 to prevent the RDC car from derailing. The turnout status indicator needs to be relocated, because the RDC hits the indicator when travelling on the outside track.

Other Items:

Raulf Polichar displayed a footprint he developed for a #6"Y" turnout, which would be placed on the PY1/C4 extension.

Mike will be on vacation from July 22nd until July 30th.
