November 17, 2020 - Meeting Summary
The San Diego S-Gaugers held the October club meeting on Zoom at 10:00AM. Attendees were: Mike Forys, Ken Sadlock, Raulf Polichar, Robert Graves, Les Smith, John Racey and Alex Sibbald.
Introduction of new faces / Show and Tell:
Mike Forys, Les Smith Bob Graves and his wife Cory worked 3 hours on 11/13/20 dismantling a G scale railroad at a home that had been sold. In return the owner promised a donation to the club.
Treasurer’s Report:
The club received Dale's payment of $310 for a donated Baldwin Diesel. Bill Center donated $370 to the club to purchase MTH track before they closed the business. The club gained $56.50 from the sale of donated items at the AGTTA swap meet.
Standards Report:
Raulf Polichar explained that he found the Liberty Loop layout had suffered an accident and the locomotive motor burned up as a result. He had to cannibalize a motor from the Timesaver locomotive to replace the dead motor. The club members voted to replace the motor and order a spare as well. Ralph will contact American Models. The club is looking for a source of .125 rail joiners. Ralph will check with Micro Engineering a manufacturer of .125 rail.

Website Update:
Bob Graves presented our new email address: sandsgaugers@gmail.com. Club literature needs to be updated with the new address. Bob will correct the date of our January meeting to Tuesday Jan 19th.

SN3 Addition Status:
Raulf and Mike have been repairing track located at the back of the layout.
Window Layout Success and Visitor Attendance:
As of 11/12/2020 the Window Layout Button 1 has been pushed 586 times and Window Layout Button 2 has been pushed 948 times for a total of 1,534 times since October 16th. or 172,487 times since we first installed one at Grossmont Center and 212,815 times since day one. The new buttons are performing much better than the previous buttons.
Future events:
The next meetings will be on Tuesdays, December 8th, 2020 and January 19th, 2021 and will be held only on Zoom unless San Diego moves to a red tier and removes restrictions. Mike Forys passed out a status sheet with NMRA membership dates for members to check for accuracy.
Clubhouse:
We will be rotating items in the front wall display and adding text explaining and/or describing exhibited items. The club discussed methods of displaying text descriptions.
Work Days:
One or two work days will be scheduled just before we reopen to prepare clubhouse for visitors.
Liberty Loop window layout:
Mike is looking for someone to create a fall scene on an insert for the Liberty Loop Layout. A blank insert is available for decorating.
Opening Clubhouse:
Two boxes of MTH track were purchased to offset any future needs since Mike Wolf is retiring and the future of the company is unknown. Mike Forys tested rail joiners from American Models on a piece of MTH flex track. It was a loose fit.
