July 18, 2023 - Meeting Summary
The San Diego S-Gaugers held the June club meeting at our clubhouse and on Zoom. Attendees were: Mike Forys, Ken Sadlock, Robert Graves, Raulf Polichar, Don Briggs, Alex Sibbald, Scott Lewis, Les Smith, Dale Minard, John Racey, and Al Kiel.
Introduction of New Faces / Show and Tell:
Ken Sadlock displayed an early S scale 4 spotlight tower that he purchased. Les Smith showed us pictures that he took at the N gauge Shortline layout at the Vista Antique Engine Museum and an HO layout that he toured in Valley Center.
Treasurer's Report:
Bob Graves reported that the club received visitor cash donations totaling $221.62 in June with $30.12 of it coming from Venmo. The club showed a net loss of $15.69 in June.
Standards Report:
Raulf Polichar reported that the PY1 T6 switch is fixed. It required moving the switch motor slightly. Raulf showed us the new DCC controller that he plans to use on the test track to aid in troubleshooting and programming.

Library Report:
Dale Minard passed out a list of magazines that he has digital copies of in the SDSG Library.

Window Layout Success and Visitor Attendance:
Mike Forys reported that from June 10, 2023 to July 15th 2023 the window buttons have been pushed 4,781 times. Windows 1 = 3,022 Windows 2 =1,759, average 136.6 per day over 35 days.
Grossmont total (beginning Feb, 2016) = 278,444
Day one (beginning May,2011) total = 318,002
Old Business:
Club Mural:
The Mural barn door is painted and is ready for barn door hardware. Mike Forys created a fixture to locate rivets on the mural.
Powell Yard:
Mike Forys created a sign for the yard and coal tower and is looking for feedback.
Window Layouts:
Dale Minard replaced the center pop out with the baseball scene. He is working on a tunnel project.
New Business:
Lego Days:
The next Lego Build Day has been moved to August 19th, 2023.
Future Events:
The next meetings will be on Tuesdays, August 22nd and September 19th 2023 and will be held at our clubhouse and on Zoom.
Online Sign-up Sheet:
Mike Forys has been investigating programs that would allow members to sign up for club activities on line. Sling is the program that is currently under consideration.
Sound:
The club was asked to consider adding items such as button operated sound at appropriate locations around the layout. Another suggestion was to use proximity detectors to activate sounds when someone is in the area.
Backdoor Doorbell:
A doorbell has been installed at the backdoor.
