September 17, 2019 - Meeting Summary

The San Diego S-Gaugers held the Sept club meeting at our clubhouse (304 on the mall map) in Grossmont Center at 10:00am. Attendees were: Mike Forys, Robert Graves, Wes Noel, Alex Sibbald, Ken Sadlock, Jerry Shiller, Dale Minard, Raulf Polichar and Les Smith.

Introduction of new faces / Show and Tell:

Mike Forys brought in a Polar Express hot chocolate tank car that was finally delivered. Wes Noel brought in two buildings that he built for his N scale layout.

Treasurer’s Report:

Robert Graves reported that we received $248.34 from visitor donations in August. He reported that we had a monthly electric bill of $213.78.

Standards Report:

Raulf Polichar is documenting procedures for synchronizing the remote window layouts activation radio buttons with the recieving electronics. He is also preparing a procedure for operating the new DCC programming track.

Publicity Report:

Les Smith reports that we have Halloween Badges ready for our Junior Engineers.

Streeterville:

After the meeting we moved out the Streeterville Window layout to make room for the Halloween

Ceramic Village where we will display Frozen Figures to coincide with Frozen II movie release.

SN3 Addition Status:

The Sn3 layout has been moving ahead with the recreation of the lake. Support legs for the layout are being reinforced and dual S gauge turnouts have arrived and are awaiting installation.

Window Layout Success and Visitor Attendance:

As of 09/14/2019 the Window Layout Button 1 has been pushed 1,204 times and Window Layout Button 2 has been pushed 1,377 times for a total of 2,581 times since our last meeting, 141,514 times since we first installed one at Grossmont Center and 180,896 times since day one.

The next meetings will be on Tuesdays, Oct 22nd and Nov 19th and will be held at our clubhouse (suite 304 on the mall map) in Grossmont Center at 10AM.

Preliminary 2020 Calendar:

Mike Forys presented a preliminary 2020 Calendar for members to review, edit and correct.

Grossmont Center Tenant Meeting:

Mike Forys read the notes that he attached from the September 12th meeting. Grossmont Central RR ranked 5th in Grossmont Store Google traffic.

Work Day:

The club will not schedule a work day this month.

Display Boxes:

Dale Minard has finished another very nice eight foot long train display box complete with Plexiglas doors. Mike Forys has filled this display box with freight cars.

NASG Banner:

NASG has requested that we add a trademark symbol on their logo displayed on the NASG banner.

Hanging Sign Repair:

Dale Minard is attempting to repair our store identifier hanging sign which warped in the sun.
