A group of Ōtaki College Rotary Interact students and some student council members attended a Rotary dinner at the Apple Quarters Cafe in early May. The students- Lana Whitton, Kate Hall, Harriet Georgetti, Olivia Fogden, Jordan Blakeley and Rose Reynolds are actively involved in service activities within college and the wider community.
The students had the opportunity to listen to Sophie Handford (KCDC Councilor and youngest local body Councilor in the country) speak about global sustainability and protection of our planet. Our students found Sophie’s talk motivating and were able to network with her after the meal and explore wider community service options for themselves.
We were appreciative of this opportunity to be hosted by Rotary for this event.
