Athletics Day
After a rain cancellation, we held our whole school athletics day on Tuesday, 25th February. The weather was stunning, with blue skies and warm temperatures. This year, our morning started with a house chant competition, which saw Totara take a convincing win.
Swimming Sports
We were lucky that the weather held until the end of our swimming sports day. Participation was high and our interhouse relays were hotly contested.
A huge thanks to Matua Sam and the Manakura Crew for their mahi setting up and dismantling all of the equipment needed for athletics and swimming sports.
Our 2025 Champions and record holders will be announced at our next full school assembly.
So watch this space.
Golf
Ned Butler and Zac Heenan attended the College Sport Wellington Golf Championships, where Ned came third overall - a stunning effort.
Tennis
A keen crew headed into Wellington for the College Sport Wellington Senior Tennis Championships early on Wednesday, 26th February, finding out halfway there that due to weather, the tournament was postponed. We will have another try at this tournament when a new date is set.
Year 7 and 8 Swimming
We are grateful to again receive sponsorship from the Ōtaki Surf Lifesaving Club / Kāpiti Trust, who are paying for all of our 7 and 8 students with free swimming lessons this term.
Canoe Polo
Our canoe polo team played well at Secondary School Regionals and are now building up to Summer Tournament Week at the end of March.
Padder Tennis.
Congratulations to Max Beauchamp and Brendon Angove-Kahui who came 2nd in the Inter-school Padder Tennis Tournament.
Kite Festival Workshops
We were lucky to be one of the area schools to take part in fully funded kite festival workshops thanks to Creative Communities, Creative NZ - we had an awesome day of kite making and flying, and a bit of interclass competition. Winners will be announced during our next assembly.
Touch
Good luck to our combined Senior Touch Team who are heading off to College Sport Wellington Regionals on Friday, 14th March. Thanks to Whaea Jude for taking and coaching this team
