Ōtaki College recently welcomed 16 students from Namiki, Japan for a nine-day short stay. Their week was full of activities, including Cooking, Art, PE, a visit to an Earthship, Japanese classes, and time in Year 7/8 homerooms — with enthusiastic buddies joining them at break times.
A special highlight was the Pōwhiri at Pukekaraka, where both the Namiki students and our new German students were warmly welcomed. They experienced many aspects of our rich culture, with students exchanging waiata and sharing a fun exercise in counting together in Te Reo Māori, Japanese, and German.
Our visitors took home great memories and lasting friendships.
