Levin Hustle held its first ever "Baseball in Schools" Tournament to close out the Baseball in Schools program for the season.
The Schools program was delivered by Baseball Development Coordinator, Scott Laur, who has been running skills sessions at 12 Schools this season, from Primary through to Secondary Schools.
The Year 7 & 8 Tournament on Friday 22 March was an opportunity for some of these schools to put what they have learnt over the past few months out on the field. With 7 teams competing, and many playing an actual game of Baseball for the first time ever, it was a new and exciting experience.
Ōtaki College were lucky enough to take two teams through to the tournament, with both teams having a fun filled day of baseball games and connecting with other schools.
In the championship game, Ōtaki College Blue took on Levin Intermediate Red for the Trophy, with ŌC coming out winners 6-4, which was a fantastic way to end an awesome day!
A huge thanks to Levin Hustle Baseball Club for putting on the tournament, and to Scott Laur who ran some great sessions with our Year 7&8 students in late 2023, early 2024.
