Full details are available on the school website calendar. The following are important dates to note:
Thursday 14 April (Whole School Learning From Home) - Last day of Term One
Monday 2 May - First Day of Term Two
WHAT: YOUR CHILD'S CHROMEBOOK SECURITY SETTING WILL BE CHANGED TO ENABLE GUEST ACCESS FOR OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL HOURS
WHY: To enable whānau to utilise Chromebooks in the home and have access to the internet on their child's Chromebook when they may otherwise be unable to, if there are not other devices in the house.
WHEN: The change to the Chromebook Setting will happen at the start of TERM 2. This will give whanau time to ensure they have filters in place to support their child.
WHAT CHANGES WILL STUDENTS SEE: Students logged on as their school identity will retain the same filters they have had at home previously but if they too sign in as a guest, this will open the internet to them, unless their home wifi internet has filters in place.

E ngā iwi, tēnā anō tātou katoa. This term we have been focusing on our R.Ō.A.R. value of Whakaute | ŌC Respect, particularly “awhi mahi, awhi atu,” “be kind;” and “kia mānawanawa,” “be patient;” this week we continue our theme with, “kōrero pono,” “talk positively.''
Be respectful – and expect respect
Respect for yourself and other people is important in all relationships, and it’s no different when you’re online.
Whānau can encourage children to treat online friends with as much respect as face-to-face friends. Part of this is not creating or forwarding nasty or humiliating emails, images or text messages about someone else. Whānau can also encourage children to tell parents / caregivers or another trusted adult if they see someone being bullied or attacked online. If children get any nasty or bullying comments, they should block or unfriend people who don’t treat them with respect. This sends the message that it’s not OK to mistreat or bully someone online.
When we are online, in whatever setting, be kind to one another, and talk positive. I invite teachers, students and whānau to think about the messages on all the slides, particularly the reflective questions. Equally important is to emphasise and remind students about thinking before you send/post material online. This is really important, particularly when we have heard (and seen) footage from students who have filmed acts of violence on other students. This is never ok. Please remember to always be kind to one another, we don’t know what others are going through; be the rainbow, in someone’s cloudy shower.
These have been emailed to caregivers and can also be viewed on the Kamar Parent Portal. If you have any queries regarding reports, please email your child's Kaiārahi Teacher or their Year Level Dean.
Now moved to Wednesday June 22, 7pm.
