Ipo is a Sulphur Crested Cockatoo from Australia. He was found by my Nanny's friend. She was a postie and she found him up in Auckland. She put him in a garage and continued doing her job. Eventually, she came back and no one had found him or taken him. She took him to the vet, the vet said,"If you've taken this bird to me to put it to sleep then I refuse because it has a life to live." so she offered him to my Nanny, Andrea, and he's been living with her ever since!
Ipo is now around 43 and is doing well, but he does have a few issues. He has a blood virus, broken wings and a broken toe. Also he hasn't got many feathers at all! So he wears ponchos and a feather scarf (fake feathers) to keep him warm.
He make quite a scene when Nanny takes him out and he used to do art class with Nanny. "Art with Ipo" it was called. But according to Nanny, the only art he did was chew up pencils and paintbrushes.
Ipo loves crowds. He loves all the extra attention and being stroked on his head. He is so used to crowds, that he actually came to Otaki College. All the kids loved him. Even though he didn't dance, the classes we went into still had a ball! He was tired so he didn't dance. If he wasn't then he would've danced.
Ipo love's the song Happy Birthday and the Star Trek theme song!Nanny love's him and he comes to bed with her for a while at night. But having a cockatoo around is a mission. Ipo often throws his seed across the room. He'll grab his bowl and chuck it away. He only does it for attention, but sometimes it's accidental.
