What a great way for our year 9 students to end the year! Students in year 9 were given the opportunity to stretch themselves out of their comfort zones, use their critical and creative thinking, communication and team-building skills to enjoy a full day of raft-building at Mansell’s Farm and rock climbing in the Gorge at Moffat’s Rock. All who participated had a great time and staff attending were impressed with our year 9 cohort.
The 3 days of trips would not have been possible without the expertise and guidance of our Outdoor Education specialist, Matua Kent (Mr. Pollard), and the many staff who accompanied Year 9 Humanities teachers, including Mr. Howard Manins, Mr. Ash Perfect, Matua Ricki (Mr Ricki Baker), and Mr. Chris Georgetti. Additional support staff during these days included: Whaea Jude (Ms Jude Broughton), Whaea Tash (Mrs. Natasha Simpson), Matua Sam (Mr. Sam Ward), Whaea Marion (Mrs. Marion Lumley), and Ms. Lees. Staff remaining at Ōtaki College cannot be forgotten either as without their support covering classes for those on trips, we would not have been able to make these trips possible.
Attached are only a few photos from the first and second day of raft building.
