As part of the Ōtaki Kite Festival, we were again fortunate to have Tony Rice (Australian Kite Maker) come in and run Kite making workshops with our Year 7 & 8 students. All students were able to create colourful diamond kites under the guidance of Tony. We appreciate the opportunity to host Tony each year and thank the Ōtaki Promotions Group for all of their hard work in organising these workshops as part of the festival.
As part of a recent Air Cadets award ceremony, Charlie received a trophy, medal and certificate for the Mountain Safety Council Award for Safety and Leadership as well as the Doug Greenfield memorial trophy for initiative and practical skills.
Charlie's achievements included assisting a fellow cadet who collapsed, carrying another sick cadet's backpack on a hike and acting as a mentor for other cadets.
Congratulations to Kate Hall who won the Plywood Cup and came 3rd in the Goldmist race. Racing in Whanganui earlier this month Kate's hydroplane race boat reached speeds of 90 miles per hour. We look forward to hearing how Kate's season progresses.
