Pink Shirt Day has become an annual event at Ōtaki College over the last 6 years. It provides an opportunity to address the issue of bullying and to focus on positive and constructive messages of support. This year the Heads of School team stressed the importance of the role of an upstander - to awhi/support the person being bullied, to interrupt the bully, to 'call' the bully on their behaviour and to get support for the student being bullied.
We held a mufti day and sausage sizzle as part of the day's events. It was great seeing so many students and staff involved on the day.
