Our Manukura GPS leadership boys have been working hard to improve our college and community over the past two years. But now they need your help!
Struggles with mental health, self harm and loss feature far too heavily in the lives of our young people and our Ōtaki community. The Manukura group itself was established partially to try and provide a safe space for our young men to support those who may be struggling in this way.
Starting on the 3rd of October, the group will be undertaking an attempt to break an official Guinness World Record as a fundraising event for the Mental Health Foundation. The MHF play a pivotal role in providing our community with resources, education tools and various support networks when we, or the important people around us, are not doing great.
The record attempt is for the longest marathon playing four square and currently stands at 29 hours. Manukura hope that by trying something so ambitious! So daring! So foolish? In an attempt to support the Mental Health Foundation, as much money as possible will be raised to support people who are most in need.

Manukura GPS members, Jacob Gates, Keegan Ryan, Hunter Austin, Morgan Gould and Sam Ward had the privilege of being invited to share about the Manukura kaupapa and tikanga at the national 'Wellbeing in Education New Zealand' conference.
Initially scheduled to be in Auckland over the weekend of the 12th/13th September, Covid-19 added a layer of challenge by instead dictating this would all be hosted online. We embraced the wero, laboured through and recorded our session in true Manukura fashion, full of flavour!
It is light hearted, informative and tries its best to encapsulate all Manukura GPS stands for. If you have 15 minutes, please take a look at the linked recording, or check out the powerpoint we used at your own leisure.
