In previous newsletters I have been taking opportunities to update you on our implementation plan for Deep Learning and the introduction of the AI generative SchoolJoy teacher planning tool. In this newsletter I wish to share with you our "Outcomes Statement" and Letter from Ian Zhu, the founder of SchoolJoy, which I hope is of interest to you. I would welcome any feedback as your thoughts and views are always valuable to receive. The best way to share with me is via email: afs@otakicollege.school.nz.

Shave For A Cure is an event that Ōtaki College was part of pre-covid. The Student Council has decided to promote the event again this year.
We are holding it on Thursday 15 August in the college hall at 1.35pm, during our 2nd break.
The link to the college page is included if you would like to donate to Leukaemia and Blood Cancer NZ's signature event.
KCDC have notified us that illegally parked cars are causing a safety hazard outside College by restricting visibility between pedestrians wishing to cross and approaching vehicles.
PLEASE do not park on the yellow lines outside College when dropping off students.
Please take a few moments before August 17th to let us know what you think.
The BoT Student Representative Election will be held on 19 September.
We will be calling for nominations shortly. The opening date for nominations will be announced in the College notices.
At our most recent assembly a World Vision ambassador presented a certificate to us for our participation in this year's World Vision challenge. Ōtaki College raised $2 280. Special mention goes to a Year 7 student Kailah Jago who raised $760 as part of this college total. This is a truly impressive fundraising effort. A number of other students raised over $100 each and were acknowledged in assembly for this. We look forward to growing our World Vision efforts in years to come.
