As the end of the Term looms near, I look forward to seeing whānau at our parent/teacher/student afternoon/evening as this is a great opportunity to ascertain your child's progress and celebrate their successes. It is encouraging to see so many of our students striving to do their best academically as well as taking on other cultural and sporting opportunities that the College has to offer.
On a personal note, I thoroughly enjoyed the College Variety Concert which showcased the immense talent of our young people and I wish to sincerely thank all the students who participated in this event - you can be very proud of your efforts.
On the sporting front, I would like to pass on my sincere congratulations to all our students who have recently competed in the Waka Ama Nationals held at at Lake Tikitapu. All the teams performed at a very high level with some great results.
Our students continue to excel in equestrian events and congratulations go to Paris Karl-Fields who won Overall Champion in her grade and to Paris and Hanna Bramley who won 2nd overall team at the recent Nga Tawa Equestrian Event.
Our Touch Teams are re-emerging and it was really pleasing to hear that we had three teams participating in the recent Touch Tournament at Paraparaumu, with our Under 14 team coming 3rd and one of our Under 12 teams coming 2nd overall - well done to you all.
It's also great to see rugby getting back on the map with our Senior Boys Open Team coming second at the Horowhenua Kāpiti Sevens tournament this week.
Mobile phones are a distraction for students and, like most workplaces, we are now requiring students to only use them before and after school and in break times. If a student is found to be using a mobile phone in class we have asked teachers to remove the phone from the student and for a first offence, return it at the end of the period. If, however, this does become an ongoing problem we will ask for the phone to be removed and handed into the office until the end of the day and you will be contacted in regard to this matter.
Please encourage your child to use their phone responsibly and during the times that they are meant to use it.
If you need to make contact with your child and it is an emergency, please call the school office so that we can manage that appropriately.
If it is not an emergency, please make contact during our break times only.
