Awesome results this week at Western Zone Athletics - congratulations to Jayaiah Ashford who won the long jump, Taylor Singer won the discus and javelin and Skye Singer won the triple jump and javelin. All three of these students make it through to regionals next week along with Kaia Pollock, Hala Graham, and Te Akau Epiha - superb effort of placing 7th out of 12 colleges - being by far the smallest college represented.
Another stunning event was held in Waikanae last week with 120 riders entered from all over the Lower North Island. Ōtaki College again was well represented with 11 riders competing - coming 3rd in the teams event, Otaki Kapa - Paris Karl-Field, Emily Cooper, Aleisha Blakeley, Jordan Blakeley. Jordan also won Champion Horse in ring 3. A huge thank you goes to Lenka Fields and Sacha Kenny who put hours into the organisation of this event.
We have a number of students heading to Regional and National Competitions over the next couple of weeks with Horse of the Year and Surf Lifesaving Nationals, athletics, tennis, canoe polo and waka ama regionals. Good luck to all those attending these events.
