When I returned to Germany, I finished school, then went to university and studied economics. Afterwards, I started working for one of the biggest energy companies in Germany. First, I built up a Marketing for a new business unit, now I am a project manager for sustainable neighbourhood and city development which I really love doing. Even more when looking at the effects of climate changes around the world.
While staying in Otaki I also started playing rugby and so fell in love with the sport, that I just had to continue playing when returning back home. You probably know, that rugby is not a very popular sport in Germany, but I was lucky and found a club close to my hometown. I got pretty addicted to it, ended up playing in the highest German League (and became German Champion a few times) and as a captain of the German Rugby National Team (Sevens and Fifteenth). With 29 years I quit rugby and played Touch rugby for a while and ended up in the National Team again. Then I kind of had enough of team sports and focused on an individual sport: Mountain biking. Competed in national and international races for a big German team for a couple of years and collected quite a few podium placements. About 1,5 years ago I realized that I have had enough of competitive sport, so now I am training on a more laid back schedule. 😉
Apart from sports I love travelling and exploring the world. Actually, I have just come back from three months travelling through South America and will be off for another three months in November 2020 (this is definitely not the typical German holiday period, but an individual agreement between my boss and me).
I am 38 now, not married and don’t have kids, but just fell in love with a Chilean guy while travelling. So who knows what happens next! 😉
So, that´s the short summary of my life. My time in New Zealand surely had big effects on my life afterwards, especially concerning rugby, my general mindset and way of living and I am very grateful for that. 😊
