On Tuesday, the 5th of September, the afternoon is being set aside to support students with their option and course selections for 2024.
Please open the 2024 Junior Option Booklet and/or the 2024 Senior Course Booklet for information on proposed options and courses in 2024.
Junior Option Booklet and Senior Course Booklet
The school day will run as per usual. The exception is that Year 13 students will be allowed to leave school at lunch.
During the final period of Tuesday (2:20 to 3:20 pm) all 2023 year 8 to 12 students will have an assembly to hear about the 2024 option and course selection process (Year 7 students will remain in their homeroom classes). At this time, leaders of curriculum areas will share the options and courses they are offering in 2024. Parents and Caregivers are welcome to attend this assembly. If your child does not presently attend Otaki College, you are also welcome to attend.
Afterschool, from 3:30 to 6:00pm, we invite all 2024 Yr 9 to 13 students and their caregivers to plan, check and lock-in their option and course preferences for 2024. This will take place in the college hall. This process will be particularly helpful to support a student's pathway and aspirations. Students can talk to their Kaiārahi teachers, their Kaihautū (dean) and Curriculum Leaders. For students intending to enrol in a secondary-tertiary programme, Mrs Steph Putt (and Mr Hamish Wood) are available to talk through the enrolment process and considerations required for students taking these courses. Mrs Gillian Gordon is available to talk through Distance Learning options. Likewise, Mr Sam Ward is available to talk to caregivers about his new Manukura GPS programme running in 2024.
