Tēnā koutou,
Kate Lindsay and I (Ricki Baker) would like to put a greeting out to you all. Kia ora! And why would we be doing this?
Kate and I are the new Kairuruku Tautoko Akoranga (Learning Support Coordinators). We started these roles at the beginning of Term 3. This position requires us to work in our Ōtaki community as support workers in our School cluster – St. Peter Chanel, Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Te Rito, Te Kura ā Iwi o Whakatupuranga Rua Mano, Otaki School, Ōtaki College, Waitohu School and Te Horo.
What does that mean? It means that we have a lot of work to do in assisting our young people and youth transition from Early Childhood Education level through to Primary and Secondary school levels. It also means that we work alongside people in our schools such as Resource Teachers of Learning and Behaviour (RTLB), Resource Teacher of Literacy (RLit), Special Education Needs Coordinators (SENCO), Teacher Aides, Principals, school staff and Whānau. Outside of the school arena we will be connecting with various agencies who are able to assist us in assisting your child to grow and develop as they move through the various sectors of Education. In time, we look forward to meeting and working with you.
Nō reira, ka nui rawa atu a māua mihi maioha ki a koutou katoa. Nā māua tahi,
Kate Lindsay and Ricki Baker
