On 19 September 2019 the Prime Minister and Minister of Education announced that Aotearoa New Zealand Histories will be taught in all schools and Kura from 2022 onwards. After extensive consultation the draft curriculum for Aotearoa New Zealand Histories was published in February of this year and there is an opportunity for public feedback that will run until 31 May 2021 before the content of the curriculum is finalised. We invite all sectors of our school community to engage in this process and take the opportunity to have your say.

Thank you to our whānau who came and listened to Zareen and Rob speak about the concerns for our rangatahi's exposure to harmful content on devices that are connected to the internet.
This interactive PDF contains a recap on the main points they covered and some of their tips and recommendations in relation to solutions. Please note further information/detail can be found by viewing their documentary and on their website.
We now have a licensed copy of the documentary so that we are able to organize viewings at the College. Please keep an eye out for times that this will be shown in the upcoming weeks and next term. The documentary is an hour and a half long but well worth viewing to be better informed.
Some of our students will be taking part in the Wonder Project Rocket Challenge next term. It’s an amazing programme designed to get young Kiwis excited about STEM – science, technology, engineering and maths. The programme pairs STEM professionals with teachers to deliver the challenge and we need more volunteers to help our kids design, build and launch water rockets!
Keen to help? It only requires 1 hour a week for 6–8 weeks during Term 2. The Wonder Project team provides everything needed so you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to guide our students on the Rocket Challenge. We are looking for passionate and committed professionals working in STEM fields who want to make a real difference – and inspire wonder in the minds of young people in their community.

On Friday 26 March we held a school mufti day to support Canteen - who provide support to young people and their whānau facing cancer.
A group of year 8 students- Beatrice Chappell, Nevaeh Lawton and Bijou Austin approached the student council with a proposal to support child cancer.
The girls organised a bake sale and raised $170 which will be sent to the Child Cancer Foundation. Well done girls on your awesome effort.

Maslow's hierarchy of needs, developed in 1943, is one of the best-known theories about what makes people happy. According to psychologist Abraham Maslow, everything we do is motivated by our desire to meet certain needs E.g If we have a drink of water, it’s because we are trying to meet a physiological need ( the bottom level of the pyramid). Sounds obvious, huh! ... Read More
