Friday 7 March saw kites flying at Ōtaki College as kite makers/flyers Jo and Ricky Baker from Australia came and ran a kite making workshop with the Year 7 & 8 students. Students were able to design and colour their kites during Homeroom time, while the actual making took place in the workshop. Students created an array of amazing kites with colourful designs and images on display. Jo and Ricky also put some of their own giant kites on display, showing our students how they are inflated using a leaf blower of all things! A huge thank you goes to the Ōtaki Promotions Group Kite Festival organisers and Kirsty Doyle for arranging for our students to participate in this workshop, which was a welcome return to our events calendar after a long break due to Covid and other circumstances.
