Tūkaha Wānanga ki Katihiku 2021, you were something else! This wānanga welcomed the largest group of rangatahi from Ōtaki College, Kāpiti College and Paraparaumu College we have ever had, and predominantly male also.
Together they embarked on a journey to make connections and rediscover who they were and where they come from, Ko wai koe, nō hea koe?
Ōtaki College hosted the first wānanga at Katihiku Marae, the most perfect venue to start the year.
He mihi ki a Ngāti Huia me tō rātou marae ātaahua rawa, mō te manaaki i a mātou. Kāore he wāhi e tua atu i te marae o Katihiku. A big thank you to home people of Ngāti Huia for looking after us throughout the duration of our stay, we loved it immensely.
The students learned so much about themselves and were able to safely share their thoughts, ideas, goals and aspirations with a large group of likeminded people.
A big thank you again to our facilitators of the hui. Your energy is infectious and our students are so lucky to be mentored by you all. He mihi kau atu ki a koutou.
