60 Year 12 and 13 students took part in the BP Business Challenge on 13-15 March. They worked in teams during the three days and came up with some awesome sustainable business ideas which they researched and presented to a series of judges - local business owners/community members - on the final day.
Judges commented that all teams had a great approach and worked well together on their presentations.
The winners on the day were:
1st - Eco Armour, strong cases, sustainable choices: Feedback from one of the judges was: The team had a 3D printed model which was a nice touch, good team involvement in presentation and enthusiasm, good target market – everyone has a phone and their return policy was well thought out. Team members were: Maddie Simpson, JT Byrne, Jaybe Ackerman, Harriet Georgetti, Savannah Lynn & Devon Huisman.
2nd- Fits, second hand clothing app. This team had a well designed and thought out presentation, they had created a lot of collateral to go with it. Team members: Keita Broughton-Alp, Rosie Thomsen, Louis Bevan, Ethan Kyle and Freddy Sayer.
3rd - Up Bag, recycled bags. Again a simple problem – everyone has unused and broken bags so recycling them to create new bags is a very easy concept to grasp. Very enthusiastic team, worked well together. A good target market of schools. Team members: Logan Boyer, Kita Kanavatoa, Ihnia Graham, Maraea Barriball and Keiyan Nootai.
Individual Award for the student who stood out/stepped up the most during the three days - Logan Hughes.
A big thanks to the BP Challenge presenters Paul, Lambrini and Talister, and also to our judges: Rangi Esson, Simon Black, Janice Brown, Pera Barrett, Marion Lumley and Travis Robertson. Congratulations also to all the students who participated. You did an awesome job.
