An awesome group of 45 Year 12 and 13 students took part in the BP Business Challenge on 16-18 March. They were busy working in teams for three days coming up with a concept, investigating how a business could be created and presenting their ideas and research to a series of judges - local business owners, on the final day.
The judges commented on all 6 teams' ability to work together, their focus on sustainability and their ability to give quality answers to the judges questions, on the final day.
The results were as follows:
First place: Infini-x-cases. Phone Case subscription.
This team was commended on their ability to be concise and link their ideas together during their presentation. They also engaged well with the audience and got them to get their phones out, they had researched their target market well and had the slogan: "stylish, up to-date one case at a time, save the planet"
Team members: Deep Patel, Aaron Taranchokov, Taylen Smart, Gabe Gray, Luke Thorpe, Ella Gilpin, Anika Edginton and Stella Park.
Second Place: VSD - Versatile Safety Devices. Small emergency locators.
The team were commended on their clear presentation, the fact that they wore a sample of the product on their bodies and they also had the best finances out of all the teams.
Team members: Forest Glanville-Hall, Zee Mayman, Jessica Ngan, Jessica Thomsen, Lana Whitton, Rawiri Rikihana-Sinclair and Freya Lansbury.
Third place: Sara Balsa Boards. Eco friendly surfboards.
This team had good marketing strategies - they welcomed the judges and gave them each a flyer, they had strong visuals and researched their market and product well.
Team members: Sophie Carpenter, Daniel Neill, Andrew Little, Bonny Brookman, Elliot Yaxley, Max McHugo and William Fogden.
Taylen Smart won the individual award for the student who stood out/stepped up the most during the three days.
