This year, the Year 7 and 8 Department entered three teams in the ePro8 Challenge. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the challenge was moved to an in school format with teams required to submit a video and written report relating to their design. This year, teams were required to design and make a mechanical animal for a Mechanical Zoo attraction. This animal had to be made to scale and also had to include a number of features, including having a distinct movement.
Our teams were incredibly successful, with The Mechanic Group (Harriet Georgetti, Giorgio Bevan, Zach Heenan and Drew Cootes) taking out first place in the challenge, with their Frilled Neck Lizard.
Take my Shoes and Lose (Niko Fulford, Nicky Te Wiata, Stanley Butler and Lachlan Byrne) came in at second place with their alligator design.
Turtles can Fly (Nikaia Higson, Keira Johns and Hamish Campbell) also placed highly with their turtle design.
All three teams now progress to the semi finals which take place over the next few weeks, with the hopes of making it to the grand final!
