Kia ora koutou
This is the last Newsletter for 2020 and while School years go by in a blur at the best of times it's hard to fully grasp how much has happened in the past 12 months. COVID-19 has been, and continues to be, a huge challenge for us all.
Thank you for everything you have done to support the college through this year.
We had major plans at the beginning of this year to develop teaching and learning in the college and continue to work on property development to give students ongoing opportunities to get the best possible educational opportunities. Well, that ambition was soon dashed, but like all of you I have learned to embrace change and how we can now use the lessons gained over this challenging period of time to help inform our vision for the future. We certainly have all learnt a lot during the past year and I am going to continue to work hard to maintain the positive aspects of that.
I want to acknowledge those who led at the highest levels: the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health and all the others who have supported schools, and our local principals and teachers throughout the year. My thanks to our staff for their professionalism, for caring about our students and whanau and for their unlimited energy and sense of caring.
A huge congratulations to all our students for their efforts over 2020 and a special congratulations to all those students who were acknowledged at our recent prizegiving celebrations.
I wish all a wonderful Christmas and New year and look forward to you all returning to college life in 2021 feeling refreshed and excited about 2021.
