We've had a great start to the year at Aho Aho, the garden in the old horticulture bloc at the college. We've been harvesting our summer produce which has gone into our teacher veggie boxes, as well as supplying the home economics classes with lovely fresh kai. With the summer almost over, Jack has been busy growing seedlings of winter veggies, and getting the outside beds ready for planting.
As well as our usual small groups, this year we've had all the year 7 and 8 classes visiting each week, and they've been working hard picking fruit, mulching, making compost, and setting up their own garden beds. It's been awesome to see so many students getting involved, enjoying the space, and eating all the good things that grow there.
**Working Bee**
Sunday April 2nd, 2pm-4pm
Come along to help harvest from the orchard, prepare our winter veggie garden and do a general tidy. We have an abundance of fruit - apples, pears, figs and feijoas - which everyone will be welcome to take home (please BYO bags). We have a small collection of tools, but feel free to bring more - especially long-handled harvesters, as our trees are very tall! Tea and coffee will be provided, as well as a chance to explore the garden space.
We're keen to connect with the wider ŌC whānau, and to hear your thoughts on how we can make the most of this awesome resource. Please feel free to get in touch via email (gardenswithrosa@gmail.com) or through our Facebook page Aho Aho Adventures.
Ngā mihi nui,
Rosa and Jack
