Ōtaki College participated in the World Vision 40 hour challenge over the weekend of June 21-23.
The World Vision challenge has been a real student team effort this year which has made it more rewarding. The students involved ranged from Year 7-13 and took on a wide range of challenges including- no technology, no kai, no talking, sleeping in nature, staying awake, reading for 40 hours, cycling for 40km, planting 40 trees and 40 hours with no transport.
It was great to listen to the students' responses following the famine and to hear their enthusiasm.
The student team set a target to raise $5000. In addition to the challenge we held a kai sale to boost funds. M oney is still being collected to raise funds for Timor Leste.
Well Done to Finn Butler for all his hard work promoting the challenge and setting up the fundraising page and to all other students on the team. Awesome effort to those who participated in the challenge. It was a really positive event.
