Friday 15 August saw a group of Pūhoro students assemble down at Te Wānanga o Raukawa. On arrival students were welcomed and were divided into their Year Groups. The day was separated into four sessions, two in the morning and one in the afternoon.
Year 11 students spent their time meeting the challenge of learning all about their culture and what it means to be Māori as well as making an irrigation system.
Year 12 of sessions including: designing and creating their own school grounds and environment as well as toi whakaari.
Year 13s learn more about Taiao, Climate Change and question answer activities about what to expect when leaving school.
Overall the day was a great opportunity for students to be a part of and to learn from the experts who came to our home town for our leaders of tomorrow. It ws pleasing to also discover that Haki Ropata was chosen from 150 applicants around New Zealand to attend to study the STEM programme in Singapore with 20 other successful applicants from Pūhoro.
