Charles Walters


Charles Walters was born on July 18, 1924 at Yaphank, New York. He was the son of Charles and Mary Augusta (Wicks) Walters. Before entering the service he was employed by F. Franklin as a farm worker in Huntington Station, New York. On August 21, 1945 he was inducted into the United States Naval Reserve. At the time of his induction he was living at Yaphank, New York. He served on several ships as a Fireman First Class. While in the Navy he sailed on the ships; The USS Houston, USS Randolph and the USS Kearsarge. He returned to the United States on July 4, 1946 on the USS Kearsarge arriving at Norfolk, Virginia and was discharged at Lido Beach, Long Island on July 8, 1946.
