William Hahn (Coram)


William Hahn was born on June 6, 1915 at Medford, New York. He was the son of Adelaide (Baack) and William Hahn. At the time of his induction, he was working for the Virginia Engineering Company as a carpenter at the Naval Air Station in Norfolk, Virginia.


Hahn was inducted on April 23, 1943 at Patchogue, New York. He would rise to the rank of Sergeant as a company carpenter. He left the United States on November 2, aboard the Queen Elizabeth arriving in Scotland. Hahn participated in the D-Day invasion, landing on Omaha Beach D4. He saw service in France, Luxembourg, Belgium, Holland, Germany and Czechoslovakia. He would be awarded 5 Battle Stars for the Ardennes, a Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal and a World War II Victory Medal.


William Hahn was discharged on December 22, 1946 at Fort Dix, New Jersey.
