Andre Stiansen


Andre Stiansen was born September 23, 1923 in Kristiansand, Norway. Before the war he was living in Yaphank, and was working for the Patchogue Electric Light Company as a Sub Station Operator. Stiansen was inducted into the Army on January 20, 1943 at Camp Upton, Yaphank. His training included being an aviation cadet, gunner, Infantry and personnel NCO. Stiansen left the United States on February 2, 1944 aboard the Queen Elizabeth arriving at Scotland. Here he was assigned to the 8th Army Air Force; Task Force A. Stiansen was involved in the European Theatre Operations and the liberation of Norway. He was awarded a Good Conduct medal, British Liberation Medal an E.T.O. and an A.T.O. medal. Stiansen was discharged from the service on March 25, 1946 at Fort Dix, New Jersey.
