Ernest Leger

Ernest Leger was born on January 23, 1906 in Saint Paul, Canada. He was the son of Jude and Hermine (Williams) Leger. Before entering the service Leger was employed by C.B. Alen as a contractor in Bellport, New York. He was inducted into the Army on May 12, 1941 and was sent to Camp Upton at Yaphank. He left the United States on December 18, 1943 from Boston on the Santa Paula arriving at Swansea Wales. Leger served with the 38th Signal Corps as a truck driver. During the war he was actively involved in the European Theater, the Ardennes, Normandy and the Rhineland. Leger was awarded the European, African and Middle Eastern Campaign Medals.

Ernest Leger was discharged from the service on October 1, 1945 at Fort Dix.
