Raymond Still (Coram)


Raymond Still was born on August 25, 1925 at Selden, New York. He was the son of Gladys (Giroux) and Raymond Dewey Still. He was living at Coram when he enlisted in the Navy on May 24, 1943 at New York City. Entering as an Apprentice Seaman. After finishing minesweeping operations in the Pacific, he arrived in San Pedro, California on the USS Redstart and stayed their to help decommission the ship. After the war Still stayed in the service. In Melville, Rhode Island he was trained on Motor Torpedo Boats and rose to the rank of Ensign. Following that training he was assigned in 1946to the USS Bronx and was on duty in the Pacific.
