Erich Thatner was born in 1912 in Danzig, Germany. He was inducted into the Army on August 10th, 1942 at Fort Jay, New York. Thatner was assigned to the Service Company of the 13th Infantry rising to the rank of Technician Fourth grade. For his service Thatner was awarded the World War II Lapel Service Button; World War II Victory medal; Expert Infantryman Badge; marksman Badge w/Rifle Bar; European – African Middle Eastern Medal w/4 Bronze Service Stars; Good Conduct Medal; American Campaign Medal. Thatner was discharged from the service on October 23, 1945 at Fort Francis, E Warren WY.
