John T. Hines was born in 1926 and living in Middle Island when he was inducted in the Army on October 13, 1942. He was at Kennedy General Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee when he was discharged on October 2, 1945 with the rank of Sergeant. John was awarded the World War II Victory Medal and a World War II Service Lapel Button.
