Nehemiah Overton, b. May 21, 1760; d, Nov.- 1806 - Family tradition has said that he assisted Col. Benjamin Tallmadge in the burning of the large forage of hay on Nov. 23, 1780, which the British had stored at Coram. George Washington later stated that the loss of the hay was severely felt by the enemy.
