Kenneth Glover


Kenneth Glover was born on June 24, 1919 at Cutchogue, New York. He was the son of Pauline (Danelcycz) and Vincent Glover of Yaphank. Before entering the service Glover was working as a farmer on the Yaphank farm owned by his father. He entered the service on March 3, 1941 at Jamaica, New York. After induction he was trained with a Machine Gun as a NCO and was a rifle, M1 Expert. Glover was assigned to the 62nd Gun Battalion, Battery A, and rose to the rank of Sergeant. He left the United States on August 31 aboard the Queen Elizabeth and arrived in Scotland.


Glover was involved in the following campaigns; Algeria – French Morocco, Central Europe, Rhineland, Tunisia, Sicily, Rome – Arno and Southern France. He was awarded an American Defense Medal, a Good Conduct Medal, and a African – Middle Eastern Service Medal. Glover was discharged on September 18, 1945 at Fort Dix, New Jersey
