Joseph Scesny was born in 1922 and lived on his parent's farm in West Yaphank. He enlisted in the Army Feb. 17, 1941 at Jamaica, Long Island and was assigned to Company B, 313th Engineers. He was promoted to the rank of 1st Lieut. and served in Italy. Joseph was discharged Feb. 14, 1945 and was awarded European - African - Middle Eastern Campaign medal and World War II Victory Medal.
