Howard Christiansen


Howard Christiansen was born on March 25, 1919 at Woodhaven, New York. He was the son of Anna (Schwefel) and Albert Christiansen. Before the war he was living in Coram and was working for Herman Schwebes as a plumber. He was inducted into the Army on April 8, 1942 at Fort Jay, New York. He was sent for 8 weeks infantry training and for 2 weeks to War Dog School. After his training period he was assigned to Company D of the 724th Military Police Battalion, later he was transferred to the 623rd Military Police Battalion. He left the United States on July 22nd, 1942 from San Francisco arriving in Honolulu. In Hawaii he spent 3 years doing military police duty. He returned to the United States in August and was discharged from the Army on October 19, 1945.
