NORTON, SAMUEL

Patchogue Advance

August 14, 1886

The funeral of the late deacon Samuel F. Norton occurred at 1 o'clock at his late residence in this village. The attendance was very large and quite a number of persons were obliged to stand. After prayer by Rev. Mr. Thyholdt, our new pastor, and after appropriate music, prayer and scripture reading, Rev. Mr. Young, formerly pastor in this village delivered the address, which was most excellent and well suited to the occasion. He reviewed the life of the deceased as a Christian. The address received close attention. At 2 o'clock the casket closed and the remains were borne from his residence by the pallbearers, Sylvester Homan, Alfred Ackerly, S.B. Overton, A.L Davis, E.L Gerard and J.L. Bishop. His remains were interred in his family lot at Middle Island.
