James W. Doherty was born April 13, 1922. He enlisted in the Army Air Force on Oct. 2, 1942 and was with the 421 Bomb Squad, 504 Bomb Group with the grade of corporal. The 504 Bomb Group was based on Tinian Island and flew missions to the Japanese Islands. James was overseas for 4 months and was awarded the American Service Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal, and WWII Victory Medal. He was discharged Feb. 8, 1946.
