Percy Homan

Percy B. Homan was born in Port Jefferson, New York. He was the son of Lyman Beecher Homan. Percy enlisted in the Army on February 25, 1918. He trained at Camp Crane in Allentown, Pennsylvania. He was assigned to the Tank Corp. After being sent overseas Homan was involved in the St. Mihiel Offensive and the Battle of the Argonne Forest. The Battle of the Argonne Forest was one of the last battles of World War I. The Allied forces led by General John J. Pershing attacked and destroyed the German defenses in the heavily guarded Argonne Forest. It was this defeat that would lead to the signing of the Armistice on November 11, 1918. Homan served overseas from April 26, 1918 to March 13, 1919. He was gassed at the Battle of the Argonne. He was discharged on April 12, 1919.
