Charles J Randall (1837-1913) was born at the Ridge and lived most of his life there. His farm was located near the northwest corner of the Whiskey and Randall Road intersection. Where the Leisure Village golf course is located

A very prominent person in Brookhaven, he held the office of tax collector and for several years the office of assessor.

As a young man he was involved in the cordwood business and shipped wood by vessels from the Shoreham Landing. After the cordwood business declined, he began buying and selling real estate. He left the area in 1902 and moved to Woodhaven, where he died in 1913
