Psst! We're moving!
Jian Xi quickly pulled away, her face flushed like the morning sky.
He Ran clearly hadn’t come back to his senses. A few seconds later, he exclaimed, “Shit, did you just force a kiss on me?”
“...” The awkwardness dissipated with this shout, and Jian Xi relaxed. “What’s wrong with forcing a kiss? Can’t I kiss my boyfriend?”
“Sure, sure, sure.” He Ran pulled her waist, bringing her closer to him. “You broke the rules, Dr. Jian. No, I need to kiss you back to be fair.”
Jian Xi’s protests were drowned in He Ran’s passionate kiss.
His tongue was stronger than hers; Jian Xi had to admit defeat. He completely dominated the rhythm of this romantic moment.
He Ran kissed deeply and passionately; a few seconds were enough to make her sink into it.
When he released her, Jian Xi was already panting. He Ran’s complexion changed slightly as well. He put his arm around her shoulders and walked forward.
Jian Xi was tall, soft, and delicate. He Ran’s palm was scorching hot.
“You...” Jian Xi hesitated, not knowing how to start.
He Ran admitted straightforwardly, “Yes, I’m hard.”
“...”
“In this situation, if I weren’t hard, I wouldn’t be a man.”
“...”
At this point, any words were superfluous. Jian Xi tried to keep her voice calm and steady, “It’s late. Let’s go home.”
“To your place or mine?” He Ran asked.
Another shameless language trap, but Jian Xi wasn’t falling for it. “Back to work at the hospital.”
He Ran chuckled softly, “Seriously, you look really good in your white coat.”
Jian Xi felt pleased inside, “How good?”
“So good that I reacted.”
“...” Jian Xi couldn’t keep up with his shifting rogue demeanor and decided to stay silent.
The two returned the way they came to get the car. When Jian Xi glanced down secretly, she thought, I’m not wearing a white coat, and you’re still hard.
Finally, she saw the flashy new motorcycle.
He Ran put a small helmet on Jian Xi and tucked her bangs behind her ear, “This helmet is new. I picked pink especially for you. Do you like it?”
“No.” Jian Xi answered bluntly, “I’m twenty-six. I don’t have so much girlish fantasy anymore.”
“Tsk,” the stubborn woman, “Can’t you praise me once?”
“No, you’re already flying too high.” Jian Xi raised her chin, “If I praise you more, you’ll launch like a rocket.”
He Ran laughed and cursed, “You little sharp-tongued thing. Thank goodness your tongue is soft.”
Jian Xi was truly amazed. This man had the ability to say vulgar things without blinking an eye.
He swung his long legs over the motorcycle, put on his helmet, and asked, “Ready?”
Jian Xi nodded, “Ready.”
The throttle roared, the engine sped up, and the whole body vibrated. Despite the fierce wind, the unique scent of him remained undisturbed. She held tightly onto He Ran’s waist.
They raced through Huaihai Road all the way east, roaring through the bustling world.
The temperature was cold, the neon lights flashed, the breath was scorching, and the man in front of her was real.
Jian Xi hugged him tighter. He Ran turned his head slightly, his voice trembling slightly in the air, “Damn, hold me so tight, are you trying to cut me in half?”
Not caring at all, Jian Xi clung to He Ran’s broad and sturdy back like a clinging fish.
At a red light, the black wild motorcycle stood out among the cars. He Ran rested one foot on the ground, pushed up the visor of his helmet, and turned to Jian Xi, “Hold me tighter.”
“Why?” Jian Xi asked.
“I feel good.”
“...” Jian Xi was amused and poked his shoulder hard, “You feel good everywhere.”
This red light lasted a long time. He Ran took off his leather gloves and held her hands in his palms, “So soft, do you not have any bones?”
The warm sensation enveloped her fingertips. On this bustling street, Jian Xi felt a bit shy.
“What are you struggling for? Having a tug-of-war with me?” He Ran complained, “Your hands are frozen. Stop moving, let me warm them up.”
The motorcycle weaved between lanes, with a private car on the left and a large nanny van on the right.
A pair of eyes from the nanny van nearly popped out. Tao Xinglai rubbed his eyes repeatedly and exclaimed, “Holy crap, is that my sister?”
He pressed his face against the window, confirming again and again, “Damn, it really is my sister!”
Okay, the couple on the motorcycle was intimate enough, quite wild.
Tao Xinglai quickly pulled out his phone and called. Jian Xi went through the motions of picking up her phone, and Tao Xinglai eagerly waited for the call to connect.
“Sorry, please try again later.”
Jian Xi hung up directly without answering.
Tao Xinglai was thrilled and sent a fiery text message—
[Cutting off the Emperor of the Screen tonight, impressive. Tomorrow morning, I’ll visit the Mayor of Jian City.]
After arriving at the community gate and getting off the bike, Jian Xi finally saw Tao Xinglai’s message.
She couldn’t help but laugh, “Troublemaker.”
He Ran was parking the motorcycle. Hearing her comment, he frowned, “Are you cursing me again?”
Jian Xi quickly explained, “No, it’s my brother.”
“From showbiz?”
“Yes, he’s just fooling around.”
“Does your brother have a tendency?” He Ran asked directly, “He looks prettier than a woman.”
Jian Xi burst into laughter, “He’s straighter than a ruler.”
After saying that, she called back. Tao Xinglai answered quickly:
“Holy crap, sis, you’re dating? Fine, date, but how could you hang up on me? Don’t you have a conscience?”
Jian Xi, holding her waist with one hand, kicked a pebble on the road and laughed, “Nope.”
Tao Xinglai, “I don’t want to talk to an inhumane woman. If you want to explain what happened on the motorcycle, I can reluctantly listen.”
Jian Xi was laughing so hard. She glanced at He Ran leaning casually against the bike, lighting a cigarette. The flame flickered like stars and dreams.
“Xinglai, sis really likes him.”
Jian Xi’s voice was as soft as freshly picked cotton, making Tao Xinglai feel rather sentimental. After gathering his emotions for a while, he asked, “How much do you like him? Compared to me? Is it still the distance of a high-speed train ticket from Heilongjiang to Hainan?”
Jian Xi softly laughed and muttered, “You chatterbox.”
“The guy looks pretty cool, just a bit wild. Kissing you on a motorcycle, isn’t it the city’s moral promotion month? Going against the wind is your mistake. Aren’t you slapping old Jian’s face?”
Tao Xinglai kept talking nonstop, “I don’t care. He has to treat me to dinner, or I’ll report him.”
“Alright, we’ll arrange another time.” Jian Xi said while walking towards He Ran.
“That’s definitely going to happen because my schedule is quite full.” Tao Xinglai chattered.
After finishing the call, He Ran extinguished the cigarette he’d only smoked halfway.
Jian Xi shook her phone, “Just now on the road, my brother saw us.”
He Ran grunted, “Tomorrow, let’s invite him for drinks.”
“He’s just a kid, don’t corrupt him.” Jian Xi pursed her lips, “It’s late. You should go home.”
“Kicking me out?” He Ran smirked, “Won’t you invite me up for a seat?”
Jian Xi looked at him.
He Ran suddenly leaned close and whispered, “Dr. Jian, I’m afraid of the dark.”
Jian Xi’s gaze lifted under the moonlight, ethereal and fluid.
“Alright,” she said, “Then come up for a seat.”
He Ran paused for two seconds and smiled, “Brave heart.”
Jian Xi had confidence and challenged him, “Well, dare or not?”
“Not daring.” He Ran gave in gracefully, “I’m afraid you might have ulterior motives.”
Jian Xi also laughed, “Coward.”
“For you, being a bit cowardly, I accept.” He Ran patted her head, “It’s cold outside, hurry up.”
Like a tacit understanding, Jian Xi was certain that although He Ran seemed quite free-spirited, his inner character was still solid and reliable.
“Well, see you tomorrow.” Jian Xi said softly.
“Alright, see you tomorrow.” He Ran put both hands in his pockets and mounted the motorcycle again.
The distance between them widened gradually. In each other’s eyes, the other was like the most dazzling light in the night.
“Jian Xi.” He Ran called her, “What time will you finish work tomorrow...”
“I finish work at five-thirty.” Jian Xi preemptively answered the question he hadn’t finished asking.
Her eyes sparkled, “Will you pick me up after work? Can I leave my car?”
He Ran’s brows relaxed, “Sure.”

After seeing Jian Xi off, He Ran arrived home almost at midnight.
Grandma had left the door open for him. Seeing him return, she started nagging again, “You wild cub, roaming around all day, coming home so late. Next time, I’ll change the lock.”
He Ran was used to this nagging, “Is there anyone as stubborn as you, kicking your grandson out of the house, how dark.”
“Brat, only good with your mouth.” Grandma, wrapped in a floral quilted jacket, shuffled to the kitchen with small steps and brought out a bowl of sweet rice balls, “Eat while it’s hot, then I’ll beat you up.”
He Ran took the bowl and gulped it down in two swallows, “Damn, you didn’t add sugar.”
“Eating too much sugar causes cavities.”
He Ran burst out laughing, “Comrade Li Chunyao, am I forever a three-year-old in your eyes?”
Grandma pushed her reading glasses up her nose, “What’s wrong with three years old? You’re not even as obedient as a three-year-old. You little wolf cub, bring me a granddaughter-in-law, then I won’t bother with you.”
He Ran went to the kitchen to wash the dishes, turning on the faucet, “I found one.”
“Stop lying.”
“If you don’t believe me, so be it.” He Ran put the dishes away, wiped his hands, and walked out, “I’m going to take a shower.”
The old lady muttered, “The sapling grew crooked. How did your mom give me a fake grandson?”
When He Ran came out of the shower, grandma had already turned off the lights and gone to bed. On the table, she left a cup of steaming Goji berry water for him.

Today, Jian Xi was in the inpatient department, leading a group of intern students on rounds.
“Bed 23 needs special attention. It’s twins. They’re having a cesarean tomorrow. Monitor the fetal heart rate frequently.” Jian Xi instructed softly, and the students scribbled notes furiously.
Half an hour later, after completing the rounds, Jian Xi received a text from Tao Xinglai as soon as she entered the office:
[Sis, I’m recording a show tonight. There are tickets. Give you a chance to witness the风采of Little Tao, the screen emperor.]
[What time?]
[Starts at six-thirty. All big names.]
Tao Xinglai recently played the fourth male lead in a major IP project. His agent secured him a spot, allowing him to appear with the team during the promotional period.
There was an old actor in the drama who carried significant weight. Jian Xi was somewhat interested and asked,
[How many tickets?]
[Two. Bring that wild man along. After the show, let him treat me to dinner and warn him.]
After reading the text, Jian Xi laughed.
After chatting with Tao Xinglai, she called He Ran. He picked up quickly.
“What’s up?”
“Do you have time tonight? We’re going to the TV station to watch a program. My brother sent two tickets.”
“Let’s go. After watching, I’ll treat your brother to dinner.”
Jian Xi stood by the window, basking in the sunlight, and smiled, “He told me to warn you.”
“What?”
“He said he can eat six king crabs in one meal.”
On the other end of the phone, He Ran laughed, his breathing slightly uneven, sincerely remarking, “Your brother’s style is quite like Li Chunyao’s.”
Jian Xi asked, “Who is Li Chunyao?”
He Ran was still laughing, “My grandma.”
