Psst! We're moving!
“Who is this person?”
Seeing Chi Suisui suddenly quiet down, Song Miaoli felt something was off. However, she had never added He Xingwang on WeChat, so she didn’t recognize him.
And he sent a question mark, which made it even more suspicious.
Chi Suisui exhaled: “He Xingwang.”
Song Miaoli: “?”
Now it was her turn to be confused.
Especially since she had just changed the group name, originally intending to strengthen their sisterhood and have everyone help her strategize.
“You’re the one who changed the group name.” Chi Suisui looked up at her.
“I was wrong.” Song Miaoli felt deeply ashamed.
As the group admin, Chi Suisui directly removed He Xingwang from the group chat.
“...You just kicked him out like that?” Song Miaoli glanced down, realizing how quickly things had changed; her eyes widened in shock.
“Should I keep him around to help you strategize instead?”
The surroundings suddenly became quiet, followed by a minute-long silence.
For a moment, Song Miaoli couldn’t help but admire Chi Suisui for being able to kick someone out so calmly when faced with such a situation. If it were her, she would have been mortified.
“...”
He Xingwang was also stunned.
He had been waiting for a reply, but when he checked again, the group chat box had disappeared from the interface.
He had been removed from the group chat.
He Xingwang furrowed his brows as he looked at the now-clean WeChat interface, almost feeling as if he had imagined being randomly added to a group.
His gaze shifted away from his phone, deep in thought.
Just before the phone screen was about to go dark, He Xingwang’s phone vibrated, and he received a private message.
Chi Suisui: [Accidentally added the wrong person w]
This was the first time He Xingwang had seen her use an emoji.
Though he had never seen such a simple emoji before, he assumed it was one and found its usage here quite subtle.
He Xingwang pondered for a few seconds, trying to discern Chi Suisui’s thoughts from these few words. He replied: [The group name was nice.] He didn’t doubt the people in the group, assuming they were all Chi Suisui’s friends.
Chi Suisui showed her phone screen to Song Miaoli.
“Is he implying something about us two?” Song Miaoli tilted her head and said, “I think he did it on purpose.”
Chi Suisui was almost convinced by her: “Why did you choose that group name?”
Song Miaoli asked: “Was it bad?”
Chi Suisui reflected: “Without this mishap, it would have been fine.”
Song Miaoli sighed: “I just had a sudden burst of inspiration and came up with that group name. How was I supposed to know you accidentally added He Xingwang?”
She suspected it was all because of that phone call.
A good thing about WeChat is that changing the group name triggers a notification.
Chi Suisui took a screenshot of Song Miaoli’s group name change message and sent it to He Xingwang: [It wasn’t me who changed it.] She then renamed the group to “Academic Discussion Group.”
She took another screenshot and sent it to He Xingwang.
Chi Suisui suddenly felt like she was making a desperate attempt to cover things up.
“Did he reply?” Song Miaoli, growing impatient beside her, urged: “Is he the type who goes to take a shower and never comes back?”
After staring at the screen for a few seconds, just as Chi Suisui thought she might spend the entire night discussing the group name with He Xingwang, the phone rang.
It was He Xingwang.
Chi Suisui glanced at Song Miaoli and answered the call: “Hello?”
“Suisui,” He Xingwang called out, having just finished drinking water, his voice smooth and pleasant to hear.
“What is it?” Chi Suisui asked.
He Xingwang stood by the window in his room, lightly tapping his fingers on the windowsill, saying: “Men may change, but sisters remain.”
He spoke slowly, as if reading from a textbook.
The eight characters that were originally just seen on the screen were now read aloud, making Chi Suisui cringe, her spine tingling.
But He Xingwang’s voice was irresistibly charming.
Chi Suisui cleared her throat: “This is for academic exchange.”
He Xingwang chuckled softly: “You kicked me out?”
Chi Suisui pinched her earlobe and lowered her gaze, asking: “Otherwise... do you want to be the sister in the group or the man in the group?”
Both sides fell silent.
Upon hearing this question, He Xingwang paused thoughtfully, feeling that kicking him out earlier was indeed a good choice.
Neither option was particularly friendly to him.
The café fell silent.
Song Miaoli, hearing only Chi Suisui’s response, almost burst into laughter.
The two exchanged glances, and Chi Suisui saw in Song Miaoli’s eyes a series of shifting expressions: “Do you know who you’re talking to?” “Which will Lord He choose—to be the replaceable man or our sister?”
After a while, both He Xingwang and Chi Suisui almost simultaneously glossed over this topic.
Chi Suisui got from him the answer that he wouldn’t be back tonight or tomorrow, and she inexplicably felt relieved.
If they met face-to-face, it would have been awkward.
The shopping trip with Song Miaoli came to an end because of this incident.
Su Mian, who had been added to the group, discovered half an hour later that she had a new group named “Academic Discussion Group,” which made her, as a struggling student, very uneasy.
After nervously asking a question in the group, she learned who the third person was and even praised the previous group name.
Of course, she also missed the presence of the male god.
The unexpected evening quickly passed.
The next day at the TV station, Su Mian curiously asked: “Is Dr. Song the same one we met at the hospital last time?”
Chi Suisui nodded: “Yes, it’s her.”
During their internship, Su Mian had gotten injured due to an incident, and the two of them happened to meet Song Miaoli at the hospital.
Su Mian asked: “Dr. Song is so beautiful; does she really need to worry about not having a boyfriend?”
Chi Suisui thought for a moment: “The person she wants to pursue is also good-looking.”
As she spoke, she typed on the keyboard and searched for the name Gu Nanxuan online. Leaving aside those with the same name, most results were related to the internet.
She thought about it and didn’t dwell on it.
Song Miaoli was not someone who would let herself be at a disadvantage.
Chi Suisui temporarily put the matter out of her mind and turned her attention back to Lin Jingmu’s interview. She reviewed Lin Jingmu’s information again.
From the first day she entered the set, she had never spoken rudely to Lin Jingmu, and the questions she asked were standard ones.
It was that phone call last night that made her feel it was excessive.
Not to mention the fact that it was after work hours; to say he was free at eight o’clock in the evening and ask a female journalist to conduct the interview—it was hard not to overthink it.
She called Lin Jingmu’s assistant again: “Hello.”
The same round-faced girl answered the phone. Upon hearing her voice, she couldn’t help but glance back at Lin Jingmu: “Reporter Chi.”
“Is Mr. Lin available today?” Chi Suisui asked.
“He was free last night, but you didn’t come,” the assistant replied. “Brother Lin will be filming all day today, but there will be a break in between.”
A response similar to yesterday’s.
Chi Suisui hummed in acknowledgment: “I’ll head over in a bit.”
The assistant responded with an “Oh”: “Okay.”
After hanging up, she turned to Lin Jingmu: “Lin Ge, Reporter Chi is coming over… Are we doing the interview today?”
“Why not?” Lin Jingmu smiled.
When Chi Suisui arrived on set with the photographer, they had just finished shooting a scene, and Lin Jingmu was being lowered from the wires.
The director immediately announced a half-hour break over the loudspeaker.
Chi Suisui stood there for a few seconds before walking over to the assistant director and asking: “Hello, may I ask if Brother Lin has many scenes today?”
She was beautiful, and her smile made her very likable.
The assistant director thought carefully: “Nothing in the morning. There’s one scene this afternoon. If it goes smoothly, that’ll be it. You’re a reporter from Nancheng TV, right?”
Chi Suisui hummed in acknowledgment and thanked him.
She waited patiently until Lin Jingmu sat down, and after the assistant and others brought him water and everything was settled, she approached.
“Mr. Lin.”
Lin Jingmu looked up and saw Chi Suisui: “Reporter Chi.”
Chi Suisui asked: “Do you have time for the interview today?”
Lin Jingmu asked the assistant beside him: “Do I have any more scenes?”
The assistant replied: “No more for the morning.”
Lin Jingmu turned his head: “Then let’s do the interview.”
Back in the rest area, the beginning was similar to last time. Chi Suisui changed a few of the previous questions to avoid them being the issue.
But as soon as the first question came out, she sensed something was wrong.
“This question… I don’t know how to answer it,” Lin Jingmu said with a smile. “Can we skip it?”
Chi Suisui was silent for three seconds before asking the next question.
Lin Jingmu nodded and was about to answer when the assistant entered: “Lin Ge, your bubble tea has arrived.”
“Sorry, Reporter Chi.” Lin Jingmu took the bubble tea from her: “Bear with me; filming is quite tiring.”
“Mm.” Chi Suisui waited until he finished drinking.
Ten minutes passed before the interview resumed.
“What are your thoughts on the character portrayal from last time?” Lin Jingmu repeated the question: “I think getting into character is enough.”
He looked at Chi Suisui.
Chi Suisui’s expression showed no impatience or anything else—she was as composed as the meticulous news anchors on TV.
She truly treated him as an ordinary interviewee.
As Chi Suisui was about to ask another question, the assistant suddenly came over and said: “Sorry, Reporter Chi, that’s all for Brother Lin’s interview today.”
“But the interview isn’t over yet?”
“Let’s continue tomorrow. It’s not urgent anyway.”
Lin Jingmu leaned back on the sofa, resting his eyes. He opened them slightly: “Reporter Chi, sorry, I couldn’t handle the wires this morning, and my body isn’t feeling well.”
A good excuse.
Chi Suisui put down her pen: “Since Mr. Lin isn’t feeling well, let’s end the interview here.”
Lin Jingmu felt something was off but couldn’t pinpoint it.
He directly said: “Reporter Chi, come by this afternoon.”
Chi Suisui remained noncommittal.
In the afternoon, before Chi Suisui had a chance to go to the director’s office, Zhang Yueran went directly.
Later, Chi Suisui was also called over.
The director asked: “Suisui, your interview hasn’t been completed yet. I’m thinking of letting Yueran give it a try.”
Chi Suisui asked: “Does Reporter Zhang want it?”
Zhang Yueran raised an eyebrow: “It’s mainly because you haven’t finished. You wouldn’t begrudge giving this interview to me, would you?”
Chi Suisui looked at the director: “I have no objections.”
This interview—anyone who wants it can have it.
With that said, the director naturally wouldn’t rearrange it. In the end, the task of interviewing Lin Jingmu fell back into Zhang Yueran’s hands.
As they left the office, Zhang Yueran was quite pleased: “Suisui, Lin Jingmu is rumored to be the easiest celebrity to interview, and you didn’t even succeed.”
Chi Suisui glanced at her: “I believe Reporter Zhang will succeed.”
Zhang Yueran smirked: “Congratulations are in order.”
Chi Suisui didn’t continue talking with her. She returned to her seat and received a call. Seeing the assistant’s note for Lin Jingmu, her eyes flickered.
“Reporter Chi, why didn’t you come by this afternoon?” the assistant asked. “Are you giving up on the interview?”
Chi Suisui waited until the other party finished speaking before slowly asking: “Didn’t you receive a call from the new reporter?”
“What new reporter?”
The assistant instinctively felt something was amiss and glanced at Lin Jingmu.
Chi Suisui’s tone was incredulous: “You don’t know?”
The assistant found her tone overly dramatic.
“I ran the interview too long this morning and wasn’t feeling well,” Chi Suisui spoke calmly: “So—”
“So what?”
“So this interview is no longer my responsibility.” Chi Suisui gave her the answer: “Sorry about that.”
“A change of personnel?”
“Yes, please convey this to Mr. Lin.”
The assistant was stunned.
She had been instructed by Lin Jingmu to keep brushing her off until Friday, the last day of the interview.
But now, at this moment, they were saying there’s a change of personnel…
And Reporter Chi’s words sounded familiar—
Those two sentences were what Lin Jingmu said this morning, weren’t they?!
She grimaced, already imagining how it would go when she told Lin Jingmu later. Brother Lin was probably going to be furious.
Was Reporter Chi mocking them so brazenly?
The brazen Chi Suisui didn’t care what they thought. Since the interview was handed over to Zhang Yueran, she wouldn’t interfere anymore.
As for whether Lin Jingmu was dissatisfied with her or with Nancheng TV, that wasn’t her concern.
As she expected, Zhang Yueran went in the evening and brought back the completed interview the next morning. The entire office knew about it by then.
In the pantry, when the interns asked about it, Zhang Yueran smiled: “Maybe Suisui isn’t good at interviewing entertainment news. Lin Jingmu is very nice.”
The interns exchanged glances, listening to her praise.
Su Mian came back with water and said: “Did she fall for Lin Jingmu? Look at those rainbows she’s blowing.”
Chi Suisui paused: “Is that so?”
It was break time, and Su Mian wasn’t working but started scrolling through Weibo. After lowering her head for just a minute, she looked up: “Boss Chi?”
“What is it?”
Su Mian swallowed and instinctively asked: “Marketing accounts are exposing Lin Jingmu’s news on the trending topics, and the girlfriend fans are going crazy—Boss Chi, was it you or Zhang Yueran?”
Trending topics?
What could Lin Jingmu be exposed for today?
Chi Suisui vaguely recalled Lin Jingmu refusing the interview yesterday, saying his body wasn’t feeling well. Surely it wasn’t that he was trending for being unable, right?
If it were true, the genuinely invested girlfriend fans might lose a lot.
